Garland Leisure acquires Lakeside Superbowl in Stirchley, Birmingham

Further acquisition demonstrates commitment to FEC market

Date of Press Release: 20|4|2011

Garland Leisure Ltd has added Lakeside Superbowl in Stirchley, Birmingham, to its expanding portfolio of family entertainment centres(FECs).

Edward Symmons’ Hospitality & Leisure division acted for Garland in a lease assignment by the landlord, a private investor.  The business was formerly run by Newbury Leisure.

The acquisition builds on Garland Leisure’s growing portfolio of FECs, following its acquisition of 10 tenpin bowling centres from AMF Bowling late last year and three acquisitions in February – of Blackpool Bowl, Aldershot Bowling and Strykers in Wolverhampton.  Further announcements are expected shortly.

The first floor bowling centre comprises 18 lanes together with bar, cafeteria and an amusement area, located in an affluent area of Stirchley.

Mehdi Afshar of Garland Leisure Ltd comments: “This latest acquisition confirms our continuing drive for expansion, and will fit well into our expanding portfolio.  We intend to refurbish the centre and reopen as soon as possible.”

Colin White, Partner at Edward Symmons adds: “We are delighted to be retained by Garland Leisure Ltd on its dynamic ongoing national expansion drive. Further deals will be announced shortly.”
