Asset Based Lending

Edward Symmons have “ All Routes Covered “, being the complete provider of Collateral Reviews and Collateral Valuations for the secured lender.

Due diligence in the form of a Collateral Review ( Audit / Survey ) and a Collateral Valuation is completed by all lenders who are securing their facilities against the assets of a company, including Receivables, Inventory, Plant & Machinery, Property and Intangible assets.

The Collateral Review and the Collateral Valuation form a crucial part of the underwriting process for all secured lenders, supporting refinancings, MBO’s and MBI’s, along with acquisitions made by institutions from the world of Private Equity.

Asset Based Lending has become a true alternative to traditional forms of funding and the trend is increasingly to lend against all classes of assets, and not just Accounts Receivable. These changes were reflected in the re-naming of the Asset Based Finance Association (ABFA), formerly called the Factors and Discounters Association – the trade association which represents numerous members supplying cashflow solutions to UK industry.

At Edward Symmons we have a unique team of individuals with extensive knowledge and experience in the financial sector, primarily Asset Based Lending, incorporating all areas of Risk and Portfolio Management.

We now combine the approach of the traditional asset valuer with that of the lender to offer a comprehensive and objective review and valuation of the collateral against which the funding is secured.

With the knowledge and experience of the surveyors and valuers in Edward Symmons’ nine regional offices, we believe we are now uniquely qualified to advise on the full spectrum of collateral against which funding can be secured - Receivables, Inventory Plant & Machinery, Property and Intangibles.

As for those transactions that involve assets outside of the UK, Edward Symmons is now part of Valliance, a European alliance of valuation specialists, enabling us to meet the increasing demand within the ABL sector to fund cross border transactions.
